An overview of Scholarly Productivity in ASEAN: A Preliminary Bibliometric Analysis

บทคัดย่อ

        มีการคาดการณ์กันมากว่า การยกระดับความร่วมมือระหว่างประเทศสมาชิกสมาคมสหประชาชาติแห่งเอเชียตะวันออกเฉียงใต้ (อาเซียน) ไปสู่การเป็นประชาคมเศรษฐกิจ จะมีผลกระทบในวงกว้าง รวมทั้งชุมชนทางวิชาการบทความได้สำรวจภูมิทัศน์เบื้องต้นของผลิตภาพทางวิชาการในประเทศสมาชิกอาเซียนทั้ง 10 ประเทศสมาชิก โดยใช้ข้อมูลบรรณานุกรมของบทความในวารสารวิชาการที่รวบรวมในฐานข้อมูล ISI Web of Knowledge และ Scopus มาวิเคราะห์เชิงพรรณนา (descriptive analysis) และวิเคราะห์แบบตารางไขว้ตามกลุ่ม สาขาวิชาเพื่อเปรียบเทียบความแตกต่างในด้านผลิตภาพของประเทศต่างๆ โดยรวมข้อมูลที่ได้จะนำไปใช้ในการพัฒนาเครื่องมือวัดผลิตภาพและประสิทธิผลการผลิตผลงานวิชาการของประเทศในกลุ่มอาเซียนต่อไปในอนาคต

Abstract

        It is highly expected that raising the level of cooperation in Southeast Asia to become an economic community would widely affect many communities including scholarly community. This article is intended to preliminarily survey a landscape of scholarly productivity of the ten countries in the Association of Southeast Asia Nations (ASEAN). Applying bibliometric approach, this study used bibliographic information from ISI Web of Knowledge and Scopus. The numbers of publications were analyzed by using descriptive statistics including cross tabulation by disciplinary clusters to compare different aspects of scholarly productivity between these countries. The results show a wide range of scholarly performance level in this region. The study informs the development of evaluation instruments to measure the productivity and effectiveness of scholarly works in ASEAN. ?
